Are you ready to say “OK Glass”?

If we may believe Matt Warman in The Telegraph today, Google Glass “is the computer that has both excited and worried millions. Forget the next iPad or the Samsung Galaxy S5 – Google Glass is the hottest property in today’s overheated world of technology, despite the fact that almost nobody who is talking about it has yet worn one and they’re a year away from going on sale. So what is it really like to use? Is it recording everybody’s every move? Is it selling your soul to Google?”

Glass is a wearable computer with a head-mounted display. It displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format, that can interact with the Internet via voice commands. But are you prepared to wear it? And what’s more, are you ready to say “OK Glass” over and over again?

Predicting the future and its possibilities is fun and scary at the same time. Some are good at it (see my post on what AT&T predicted in 1993 and what has now become commonplace).

Today, Playground, a Canadian agency, created a video in which it envisions some future possibilities for Google Glass. Some look far-fetched, others not. The idea is that everything is possible, Glass could become your 24/7 companion in just anything you want to do.

What will be the key factor in having success or not for Google Glass?
Context. Context. Context.

  1. I’ve seen a small demo last week at The New York Times… Time will tell! Looking forward to the new vocabularium related to this innovation. We already have the glassholes. Glasseye(ball) upcoming, I assume.
